Twitchell’s former wife, Jess, testified in his first-degree murder trial that on the days he was allegedly committing his murders, a note on the family kitchen calendar stated that he was seeing his psychiatrist.

When she revealed on Oct. 20, 2008, with her nine-month-old baby, her world came crashing down, she testified.

Mr. Twitchell, 32, is accused of murdering Johnny Altinger, 38, then dismembering and dumping his body in a sewer on Oct. 10, 2008.

According to the CBC, when the police came to their home to investigate John Altinger’s murder, his former wife, Jess, cried and fled the next day, never to return.

Twitchell, who is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Johnny Altinger, had acknowledged killing him but claimed he did so in self-defense when a publicity ploy backfired.

On the testimony stand, Mark Twitchell admitted to lying to friends, relatives, his wife, his mistress, the victim, his acquaintances, a potential victim, street cops, detectives, and even a random cop who pulled him over for a speeding ticket.

Twitchell even criticized his performance when telling his lies during his cross-examination.
