Sergio Brown is a former American football safety. He is the son of Mario and Myrtle Brown.
His father Mario Brown was Texas A&M University’s first African-American men’s basketball player. Brown died one month after being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2002.

According to authorities and papers obtained by a CNN affiliate, Sergio Brown’s mother died from injuries sustained in an assault, and her body was discovered along a creek behind her suburban Chicago house.
The body of his 73 year old mother Myrtle Brown was discovered on Saturday, September 16 2023 after relatives contacted authorities that they had been unable to locate or contact her or her son, according to a news release from the Maywood authorities Department.
According to data obtained by CNN affiliate WBBM, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office concluded that Myrtle Brown died from injuries sustained in an assault, and her death was deemed a homicide.
Sergio Brown’s brother resorted to social media on Sunday to seek for aid in locating him after he was reported missing.
“My brother Sergio is still missing,” Nick Brown wrote on Instagram. “If anyone knows where he is I want him to know that I love you and please come home.”
