Biography & Ethnicity

Milena Markovna Kunis, is the younger of the two children of Elvira and Mark Kunis and was born on August 14, 1983, in Chernivtsi, Ukrainian SSR in the Soviet Union. The Kunis family moved to the United States when their daughter was 7 years of age after they reportedly suffered from antisemitism because they were Jews among many other reasons.

Just two days after arriving in the US, Kunis was enrolled at Rosewood Elementary School where she experienced huge culture shock as she could not speak any English and found the people around her to be behaving strangely. In a bid to get their daughter to make friends and also explore the possibilities of making a living through acting, her parents enrolled her at an after-school acting program at the Beverly Hills Studio where she met talent manager Susan Curtis who later managed her career.

Mila Kunis went on to attend Hubert Howe Bancroft Middle School and then Fairfax High School after having briefly attended the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies. She appeared in a number of television commercials at the time before moving to series and movies, landing roles in Days of Our Lives (1994), 7th Heaven (1996), Santa with Muscles (1996), and Gia (1998).

In 1998, Kunis landed what turned out to be a breakthrough role in the sitcom That ’70s Show which earned her two consecutive Best Young Actress awards in a Comedy (1999 and 2000) at the Young Star Awards. The performance further led to her voicing the character Meg Griffin in Seth MacFarlane’s Family Guy as the rest became history.

Before working as a cab driver, Kunis’ father was a mechanical engineer while her mother who was a physics teacher back home began running a pharmacy in the US.

After filing for divorce and completing proceedings in November 2013, Kutcher and Kunis got engaged in February 2014 and later exchanged vows in July 2015 at a ceremony in Oak Glen, California.

Together, the couple has two kids; daughter Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher who was born before her parents were married in October 2014, and son Dimitri Portwood Kutcher, born in November 2016.

Is She a Lesbian?

Mila Kunis has been married for more than a few years now but speculation surrounding her sexuality still continues to be all over the internet. The idea that she is a lesbian was fueled by a role she played in the movie After Sex (2007) alongside Zoe Saldana where both parties explored themselves and even performed oral sex. Kunis went on to play a similar role in Black Swan (2010) where she was involved in an even more explicit sex scene with Natalie Portman.

Further speaking on the issue, Kunis, in a 2011 interview, said that she is accustomed to gay people, having grown up in West Hollywood and had gay friends all her life. She then went on to say it was not very strange for her to play those roles because she was comfortable with who she was. This prompted the interviewer to ask her if she was a lesbian to which she answered that she is a “gay man in a woman’s body.”
